Fareha Choudhury acted for the paternal grandparents in care proceedings in the case of WZ (Placement with Grandparents) [2024] EWFC 357 (B).

The Local Authority, Independent Social Worker and Children’s Guardian recommended the children be placed for adoption. The adoption plan was opposed by the paternal grandparents who wished to care for their two grandchildren. The Court considered it necessary to depart from the professional recommendations of the Local Authority, the Independent Social Worker and the Guardian. The Court determined that the welfare of the children required that they be placed with their paternal grandparents pursuant to a Special Guardianship Order. A Supervision Order was also made to support the placement with grandparents.
