Applications for Tenancy
We welcome applications from exceptional practitioners and in particular those of 10-15 years’ experience practising in the fields of public law and family finance. We would look favourably on candidates whose practice also includes Court of Protection work. 1GC recruits practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds who are able to demonstrate suitable skills and experience.

We have always recruited high quality juniors at all levels and we are experienced at ensuring a smooth transition for incoming tenants. We are fully aware that moving chambers can be a delicate matter which requires discretion.

How to Apply
Applicants should provide an up-to-date CV and an application letter setting out:
- Your reasons for applying to join 1GC Family Law
- An overview of your practice and your future plans
- Information about recent important cases
- A copy of your diary for the last 3 years, and your billings for the same period
- The contact details of at least one judge who can act as a referee for your application
- The names of members of 1GC who are known to you and who may be consulted in respect of your application.
All applications are reviewed by our Tenancy Committee and suitable applicants will be invited to attend an interview which will be assessed according to the following BSB approved list of competencies:

About 1GC
1GC Family Law is a set with 100 barristers including 13 Silks. We are a modern Chambers, managed professionally and, since 2018, set in purpose designed premises in Lincoln’s Inn Fields.
Our members of all years of call are instructed by a wide range of clients and appear at all levels of Court, with frequent cases in front of the Court of Appeal. We take on cases across the broad spectrum of family law. We are an ambitious set and intend to continue shaping family law in its most progressive developments in child care, adoption, modern families and private law . We have a strong family finance team and seek expansion to deal with a surfeit of work in this area and to strengthen our market position. We are proud to have expanded into areas linked to traditional elements of Family Law. We now have an established practice in Court of Protection cases.

We are well represented in the management of the FLBA, the ALC and CPBA.
