Denise Gilling and Sally Stone appointed as Queen’s Counsel

We are delighted to announce that Denise Gilling and Sally Stone will be appointed Queen's Counsel in 2021.

Nkumbe Ekaney QC and Andrew Norton QC, Joint Heads of Chambers, said:

"We congratulate Denise and Sally on their well-deserved achievement.

Chambers is so proud of them and what a fabulous way to end the year!"

Denise is a Family Law practitioner specialising in the law relating to children with a particular focus on complex public and private law children cases appearing in all levels of court including the High Court and Court of Appeal. She also specialises in adoption (including inter-country adoption), Wardship/inherent jurisdiction and Court of Protection matters.

Denise has extensive experience and is regularly instructed by Local Authorities, parents, guardians and separate representation of competent children. She regularly appears in complex cases involving fact-finding hearings.

Sally practises exclusively in family law as it relates to children. Whilst she has an emphasis on public law work - primarily care proceedings and adoption, she also accepts instructions in private law proceedings. Sally represents children and parents but about half of her work is advising and representing Local Authorities.

Sally is known for her meticulous and thorough preparation and grasp of detail. She is often instructed by local authorities at a very early stage so as to shape the case and advise on strategy. She has a recognised ability to forge strong working relationships with solicitors and social work professionals.
