Following the published judgment in Re J, Re M, Re P (Loss of Parental Responsibility) [2026] EWCA Civ 344, the Court of Appeal has handed down its welfare judgment in Re P. Janet Bazley KC, Karen Kabweru Nemelemu and Melissa Elsworth, instructed by Charles Russell Speechlys, acted for twin 1 and Andrew Bagchi KC, Emma Hudson, Luke Eaton and Sylvie Armstrong for the Children’s Guardian.

The Court of Appeal declined to grant parental responsibility to twin 2 and refused to make prohibited steps orders in respect of  twin 1 removing the child from the care of the mother or from the jurisdiction. The mother’s application in relation to disclosure of the main order on the appeal was also refused.
