Gemma Kelly represented the Guardian and successfully argued for severe findings to be made against the Local Authority.
Mr Justice Hayden spoke of the 'fundamental errors' made by the Local Authority, who 'fell considerably short of their obligations to safeguard and protect the children' in failing to appreciate the risk posed to the children by a man previously convicted of Schedule 1 sex offences and failing to inform the children's father of the mother's relationship with this man.
