Marketing Assistant Vacancy

1GC Family Law is one of the leading family law specialist set of Chambers with 83 barristers including 12 QCs who are specialists in all traditional children matters spanning public and private law concerns, regularly appearing in the High Court and Court of Appeal and covering the full range of children law issues with particular expertise in modern family law cases such as those concerning LGBT parenting, surrogacy and fertility matters. Chambers moved last year to new state-of-the-art facilities in Lincoln's Inn Fields in London.

The successful candidate will help develop and implement Chambers’ marketing and communications plan working closely with the recently appointed Chambers Director. This is a great opportunity to be part of a small and driven team in a buoyant environment.

  • Full time position
  • Occasional events to attend and organise in the evening
  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Reporting to Chambers Director
  • Starting as soon as possible

Candidate profile

  • Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience - ideally in marketing but not necessarily
  • Very personable and service orientated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail in particular proof reading and copy editing
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Very good team player with initiative and drive
  • Confident with Word and Excel
  • Legal background desirable but not essential

Key responsibilities

1. Plan and manage events e.g. seminars, conferences, sponsorship

  • Contribute to the development of the marketing calendar and budget
  • Organise from planning to implementation
  •  Coordinate the guests list, compose and send invitations
  •  Liaise with members and staff
  • Liaise with clients, legal firms, professional associations and press
  •  Prepare timeline, budget and track costs
  •  Manage suppliers e.g. design, printing, catering
  • Set-up and attend events, welcome guests and support speakers

2. Manage the website

  • Update and upload website content e.g. individual profiles, news feed
  •  Brief digital agency and follow-up on projects

3. Organise social media activity - Twitter and LinkedIn

  • Assist with objectives and planning
  • Liaise with contributing members and manage content

4. Assist members with the production of news items and press articles

5. Manage legal directory entries and award submissions

6. Support clerking team with business development

  • Maintain and update database of contacts
  • Develop client and industry knowledge

7. Report on marketing activity

  •  Track Chambers’ physical and digital marketing results
  •  Analyse the success of events against objectives and cost
