Alev Giz - The Right to Die at Home: A Discussion of VE v AO and Others

Monday 29 June 2020

Alev appeared on behalf of P’s daughter seeking an order that it was in her mother’s best interests to leave her care home and live her last days and die surrounded by her family. She considered this decision, made during the Covid-19 lockdown, in respect of P’s right to die with her family, how that right is a part of the wider right to family life, the particular factors that were held in the balance in this best interests decision, the challenges of such decision making in the Covid-19 pandemic and evidence of P’s wishes and feelings.
