Julien Foster, instructed by Nicole Conroy of Conroy Storrie Gosney (Edinburgh) to prepare an opinion as expert evidence in complex proceedings in the Court of Session. The case, Petition of AD10/23 for authority to adopt the child EO (Court of Session) [2025] CSOH 45 concerned an application in Scotland for adoption of a child of dual nationality as Italian and Nigerian citizens, who had travelled from Italy to Scotland, and was living in England. Julien’s unchallenged opinion, summarised in Lord Stuart’s Opinion, addressed adoption and alternatives to adoption under the law of England and, among other things, analysed English jurisprudence in relation to so-called “limping” adoption orders.
