Laura Briggs represented the family of British children who were orphaned and had been located in Syria. Applications in the High Court for the children to be warded, for orders that the children be returned to the jurisdiction and then to be placed with their British family in the UK. Orders were granted restricting the press from identifying the family. The children were returned to the UK last week and Mr Justice Keehan gave judgment in public at a hearing attended by the press on Friday 22 November 2019. Deirdre Fottrell QC advised the family alongside Laura and Hugh Tomlinson QC of Matrix chambers offered advice on the reporting restrictions orders.
