Niamh Daly wins prize in the Inner Temple Book Prize 2022

Niamh Daly‘s book, Forced Marriage Law and Practice, has been awarded Runner-Up for the Inner Temple Book Prize 2022 New Author’s prize.

We would like to congratulate Niamh Daly and Joshua Hitchens of Outer Temple Chambers, for coming Runner-Up in the New Author category of the Inner Temple Book Prize 2022 with their recently published book Forced Marriage Law and Practice, published by Bloomsbury.

The Inner Temple Book Prizes are described as “one of the highest honours that legal authorship can aspire to”. The prizes are intended to recognise and to encourage the writing of books which make an outstanding contribution to the understanding of law as administered in England and Wales. The long-term aim of the Prize is to affirm the Inn’s commitment to legal scholarship and to the training of lawyers both now and in the future. The patron of the award is HRH the Princess Royal. 

Forced Marriage Law and Practice

Niamh and Joshua’s book provides a comprehensive and practical treatment of this area of law and practice, an awareness of what remedies may be available and how they may be obtained, and how best to defend an application or prosecution. The foreword to the book is written by Mr Justice Hayden, Vice President of the Court of Protection.

Niamh Daly

Niamh Daly is regularly instructed across all areas of public proceedings in cases involving chronic neglect, substance abuse, domestic and physical abuse and injury. She has a growing private law practice, representing applicants, respondents and Guardians in s.8 Children Act 1989 proceedings, including cases which involve allegations of domestic, sexual and physical abuse. She has a particular interest in cases with an international element and has experience of representing clients in relocation applications - both within the jurisdiction and internationally. She was shortlisted for the Young Barrister of the Year award at the 2022 Family Law Awards.
