Timothy Hutchinson

Year of Call: 2023

Practice Overview

Timothy joined Chambers as a Pupil in September 2024. Prior to joining 1GC, Timothy worked as Judicial Assistant to Lord Justice Peter Jackson and Lord Justice Baker in the Court of Appeal. During this time, he worked on a wide range of cases, particularly appeals from private and public children law proceedings. His work spanned the breadth of family and civil practice, and involved writing bench memorandums, reviewing permission to appeal applications and undertaking legal research.

During his legal studies, Timothy volunteered for several pro bono organisations. These included the Free Representation Unit and The School Exclusion Project where he served as Student Director, representing parents of children permanently excluded from school at a number of first instance and appeal hearings.

Before coming to the Bar, Timothy worked as a professional actor for over a decade, performing on stage and screen in the West End and internationally. He supplemented this career as an educator, working alongside children and families in a variety of settings. He devised language and communication programmes in both mainstream and special schools, and as a private tutor.

Timothy is currently supervised by Helen Jefferson.
