Gillian was called to the Bar in 2001 as a second career and has gone on to build a thriving practice specialising in Private Family Law and family-finance work for both married and unmarried clients. Her ability to provide a full service for her clients in both these areas means that she is well placed to represent their best, long-term interests. She appears in all levels of court.

Gillian accepts Direct Public Access work.
Children (Private Law)
Gillian deals with a wide range of disputes over children, including those which centre on child arrangements, schooling choices, holiday arrangements and finances. She has acted for parents, grandparents and Rule 16.4 Guardians.
She has a particular interest in cases involving relocation, both external and internal. She has dealt with contested removals of children to a variety of countries including Portugal, France, China, Zimbabwe and Israel.
Gillian has experience in Schedule 1 claims to obtain financial provision for children, both in high-net-worth cases and cases where finances are strained. She is a contributor to the Family Law book Applications Under Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989.
Gillian also has experience in representing clients involved in highly acrimonious disputes over child arrangements, involving allegations of violence, sexual abuse and intractable hostility.
Family Finance & Property
Within the arena of family finance, Gillian has experience not only in financial remedy cases but also in those involving cohabitation disputes. She has particular expertise in cases where there are interveners (often family members). Her meticulous approach makes her particularly sought after in cases where there are allegations of hidden assets.
She deals with mid- to high-asset levels and her past cases have required business valuations, expert tax opinion and complex pension analysis.
Domestic Violence & Injunctions
Gillian has experience in representing clients who are seeking or responding to applications for injunctions or occupation of the family home where domestic violence is an issue. She is valued for her down to earth approach and her ability to think laterally to provide practical solutions to family problems. She is particularly known for her reassuring manner and pragmatic outlook.
Gillian trained as an Arbitrator in 2016 and was awarded the grade of MCIArb by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, being one of the first to qualify in the field of Children Arbitration.
Gillian has been qualified as a lawyer and mediator with Resolution since 2007. She takes a firm and no-nonsense approach which enables most of her clients to reach an agreement and is appreciated by her instructing solicitors.
ENE / Private FDR
Gillian has experience in directed mediation, in which she combines her mediation skills with an expert view on the likely outcome if the parties take their dispute to court.
