Niamh Daly has written an article on Vaccination, religion and the interference of the State for Family Law Journal, first published in the April edition.
The debate around vaccinations was something regularly in the news and in legal commentary at the outbreak of, and during, Covid-19.
The recent decision of Mr Bowen KC in UPP (A Mother) v A Local Authority and another [2023] EWHC 2622 (Fam) has again brought the issue back into focus. Specifically, UPP is a reminder of the relevant principles as to when the State (through the arm of the local authority) can interfere with, and override, a parent’s objection to their child being vaccinated.
